ZOD Status Coming Your Way!!!

Toilets are something that many of us take for granted or don’t even mind because it has always been there, but for a lot of people, especially the underprivileged, it is a luxury. The survey done by the team 2 years ago showed that the barangay of La Concepcion had 10 households that do not have toilets and practice either the pail system or open dumping method for their waste. With this, the barangay council has started a program of providing the toilet bowls for the citizens who need it. The goal is to achieve “Zero open defecation”. Toilet bowls were already purchased, and re-assessment of the names from our list will be done by the barangay to ensure that all requirements are present before the toilet bowls are provided. Some have already inquired about the toilets and are waiting for assessment.

Health Education is something that will always be there when we talk about public health, so this community immersion, with the help of the NDP, BHWs, and BNS, pamphlets made by our team about proper waste disposal, importance of toilets, and the effects of open defecation to health, were also handed out to the residents. It is better to know With the proactiveness of the barangay in relation to the problem, we expect by next year to achieve the zero open defecation status. Big thank you to the barangay council for being receptive to this need of the community, and to the health staff for the distribution of the IECs.

Padayon, La Concepcion.
