COVID-19 pandemic initially started in China and has now spread to most countries, increasing the number of confirmed cases daily. Several of infected individuals have shown gastrointestinal symptoms some related studies have been conducted to prove fecal oral transmission of the virus. One of the most advised prevention according to WHO is through washing of hands regularly in addition to this a clean and safe water supply are also essential ways of preventing and preventing outbreaks. WHO have established easy methods on water purification procedures in order to combat waterborne diseases such as boiling and chlorination. Chlorination is one of the many methods that can be used to disinfect water, it is a chemical type of disinfection method that uses chlorine or chlorine containing substances for oxidation and disinfection of potable water.
Team La Conception started the campaign on raising awareness on the importance of water purification methods through pamphlet distribution containing the proper procedure on the following water purification methods. Despite of the lack of signal and internet connectivity we were able to coordinate with Barangay Officials and Health Workers to present these methods to the community. Clean water is the most important resource to fight infections in populated areas worldwide, we should emphasize the importance of guaranteed access to good quality water which is why it is absolutely necessary to implement immediate actions to ensure that the community’s water supply are safely managed and potable.
