On 26th of April 2021, along with the scheduled monthly immunization and pre-natal visit, the Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) of Barangay La Concepcion conducted an activity to celebrate the World Immunization Week. These activities were done to support and strengthen the implementation of the Department of Health’s National Immunization Program. The BHWs posted information materials to the six puroks in the barangay, gave flyers, and showed a video to the mothers regarding the importance of immunization.
Moreover, the conduct of these activities is not without challenges. There is still a long way to go to abate vaccine hesitation among mothers. There is a difficulty to gather the crowd because of the fear that their babies will be vaccinated of COVID-19 vaccine. Also, because of the limited number of days that the Bargangay Health Nurse will be present in the barangay, there is a need to maximize the time for the information dissemination and to urge the target population to join the said activities.
Nevertheless, the activities were successfully done. The participants adhered to the IATF protocol on COVID-19 prevention.
